Cat G3520H 2,500 kW Natural Gas Generator Set, 60 Hz

Specifications

Make Caterpillar
Model G3520H
Dimensions 302 x 86 x 97 in (7.67 x 2.18 x 2.46 m)

Description

A Cat G3520H continuous-duty natural gas generator set, rated 2,500 ekW at 60 Hz. It pairs Caterpillar’s 20-cylinder G3520H gas engine with a Cat SR5 generator and is built to run around the clock: up to 45% electrical efficiency, and up to 86% total efficiency when the engine heat is recovered in a combined heat and power (CHP) system. It turns pipeline natural gas into dependable, low-cost electricity for prime power, CHP, microgrids and greenhouse operations.

Why the G3520H stands out

  • Top-tier efficiency. Up to 45% electrical, 41% thermal and 86% total efficiency, with a full-load fuel rate of about 7,583 Btu/ekW-hr.
  • Built for continuous duty. Rated to run at full continuous output for 100% of operating hours, with a robust high-speed block, low oil consumption and extended service intervals that cut overhaul costs and downtime.
  • Hydrogen ready. Runs on natural gas blended with up to 25% hydrogen, and a hydrogen-capable retrofit kit is available.
  • Low-pressure fuel system. Designed for dry pipeline natural gas at 10.2 to 34.5 kPa (about 1.5 to 5 psi) at the fuel control valve.
  • One-module engine control. ADEM™ A4 manages ignition, governing, air/fuel ratio and engine protection, paired with an EMCP 4.3 genset control panel and Cat Connect telematics (Ethernet, satellite and cellular).
  • Strong transient response. Capable of ISO 8528-5 Class G1 performance with specified load steps.

Configuration

Caterpillar built the G3520H in four 60 Hz configurations: Humidity/Fuel Tolerant or High Efficiency, each with or without engine-driven pumps. Continuous ratings vary slightly between them. Ask us which configuration this unit is.

Ideal applications

Continuous prime power, combined heat and power, utility peaking and microgrids, greenhouse and agricultural operations, manufacturing plants, hospitals, campuses, and data centers that need reliable on-site generation.
